The foundation of a strong economy is a strong care economy – and the beating heart of the care economy are care workers. Our country needs more care than ever, but the care workforce is in crisis. Each year, four million children are born, and another four million turn 65. We simply can not wait to transform the care landscape.

That is why on April 18th and 19th, care workers from across the country will descend on Washington D.C. to sound the alarm and show us the way forward. The Care Workers Summit, anchored by the National Domestic Workers Alliance, SEIU and AFT, is a historic convening of workers from throughout the care economy – childcare, home care, and all direct care – joining together with one voice for change.

Event Information

Care Workers Summit
Tuesday, April 18th & Wednesday, April 19th

Washington D.C.

The Care Workers Summit will feature plenary sessions with care workers, key decision-makers, and advocates. Discussions will amplify insightful conversations about care workers sharing their experiences and challenges; the power of unions in a resilient economy; connecting family caregivers, workers, and consumers; addressing the care workforce crisis; and the future of care. Care workers will have the opportunity to attend breakout sessions, and attendees will enjoy prominent guest speakers, including public figures and members of Congress as well as live entertainment.

Care workers care for our aging family members and disabled loved ones so that they can live independently and with dignity. Care workers provide nurturing and enriching environments for our curious children to grow and learn. They enable our families to thrive. They deserve the ability to thrive. They deserve a place of dignity, respect, and recognition in our economy. The Care Workers Summit is just the beginning.
